Technical Pioneer
Hugo Benzing was a technical pioneer whose enthusiasm and conviction led him early on to develop connecting elements. Already a quarter of a century before founding his later company, the resourceful engineer was working in Cleveland, Ohio on important mechanical and electrical technologies that revolutionized both everyday life and the economy. One of his most notable inventions from this period was a lever mechanism for typewriters that ensured precise printing of letters onto paper.
Mr. Benzing had already recognized the crucial importance of connecting and fastening elements in the technical world. He was not alone: his close friend and business partner A. A. Newman opened a store in 1902 for wearable watches, equipped with movements from the Württemberg Watch Factory Bürk in Schwenningen.
This partnership underscored the importance of precision and innovation in Benzing’s work and laid the foundation for his later success.
